Indonesian Musical Instruments

The Musica Viva Ensemble Makukuhan will be performing for us in Term 2 playing traditional instruments from Indonesia. The instruments that the children will experience come from various traditions in Java and Bali.

Makukuhan is the name of an ancient Javanese legend which explains the origin of rice. Makukuhan will also present an Indonesian masked dance.
We have been fortunate in that a community member has donated a wealth of Indonesian instruments to our Music Room at Padstow Park. A huge thank you.

The photos and video clips show students in Music Classes enjoying playing the saron, bonangs and gongs.
