Salute to Australia 2016

Padstow Park P.S. / Georges River Music Ensemble Singers performed in Salute to Australia at Bradfield Park, Milson's Point on
Australia Day January 26th 2016 as part of the N.S.W. Public Schools Choirs. There were seven Choirs positioned around the harbour foreshores performing simultaneously including the Singers on H.M.A.S. Adelaide.

The Choirs performed an Aboriginal chant called Waratah. The students were asked to bring leaves from their cultural heritage as a contribution to the smoking ceremony.

The Choirs also performed I am Australian and The Australian National Anthem.
The Australian National Anthem was performed after the 21 Gun Salute.

The students were given the opportunity by Army Officers to view the guns which were in place for the 21 Gun Salute. Our students were warmly received and encouraged to ask questions. Being shown the blanks to be used in the 21 Gun Salute was of particular interest.
Thank you to The Arts Unit for offering N.S.W. Public Schools students another wonderful performance opportunity.

Congratulations students.
